A useful community platform starts with accurate information and respect for one another.
Ceres Community helps people discover local businesses, events, schools, sports, work and organisations. Use it responsibly, and only share details you are entitled to publish.
The service and its operator
The service is operated by VAN ZYL DEVELOPERS (PTY) LTD. Its software was developed by VAN ZYL DEVELOPERS (PTY) LTD. These terms apply to browsing the app and submitting or managing contributions. If you do not agree with these terms, do not submit content or use the service.
This local version includes clearly marked sample listings for testing. They are illustrative and must not be treated as real services, verified businesses or confirmed events. Community listings are supplied by their contributors and reviewed before publication.
Accounts and your responsibilities
Use accurate account information and keep access to your email and Google account secure. Online submissions require verified sign-in. Do not impersonate a person, business, school or organisation, and do not use another person’s account. Notify the operator if you believe your account has been used without permission.
Submissions should be made by an adult authorised to publish the information. An organisation’s representative must have permission to act on its behalf. Do not create a public profile for a child or publish a child’s private contact details or identifiable personal schedule.
Community contribution rules
- Keep listings relevant to Ceres and the wider Witzenberg community. Choose the right section and category.
- Give accurate descriptions, dates, hours, locations, services and contact details. Update or remove information when it changes.
- Only publish personal information, photographs, posters and logos you own or are authorised to share.
- Do not post scams, deceptive offers, unlawful products, discriminatory employment offers, harassment, hate speech, threats or confidential information.
- Do not upload identity documents, private medical records, banking credentials or material that should not be public.
- Do not attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious content, interfere with the service, harvest personal information for spam, or evade moderation.
- Job offers must describe genuine work. Job-seekers should publish only contact and availability details they wish the public to see.
Review, updates and removal
New submissions wait for administrator review. The operator may return, refuse, restrict or remove content that is inaccurate, irrelevant, unlawful or inconsistent with these rules. Review is a community publishing check; it is not certification of a business, qualification, job offer or event.
Editing a published listing returns it to review. Use “My submissions” to update or delete your own contributions. Upload and deletion errors must be resolved before assuming an action has finished. If you believe a decision was mistaken, or you want to report misleading, infringing or harmful content, contact the operator with the listing link and a clear explanation.
Your content stays yours
You retain ownership of content you contribute, subject to the rights of any other lawful owner. By submitting it, you give the operator a non-exclusive permission to store, reproduce, format, display and make it available through the app, its search results, public share previews and technical service providers for the purpose of running the community service.
This permission does not transfer your ownership or allow the operator to sell your content as its own. You must have the rights needed for this use. Removing content ends its future display by the app after removal completes, subject to legal retention needs and technical backup arrangements. Copies already shared or cached by other people or services may remain.
Software ownership and developer credit

You may use the app for its intended community purpose. Without the rights holder’s written permission, you may not copy, reproduce, redistribute, rebrand or reuse its proprietary original software or branding as your own, or remove ownership notices to claim authorship. Access to the app or its source files does not by itself grant permission to resell or republish the proprietary app.
Third-party open-source packages, map data, fonts, images and other licensed materials remain subject to their own licences and attributions. Those licences, user content ownership, statutory exceptions and rights that cannot lawfully be excluded remain in force. The software notice does not claim exclusive ownership of third-party materials.
Contacting people, jobs and transactions
The app provides discovery and contact information. Listings do not create a booking, employment relationship or purchase through the app. Confirm identity, qualifications, prices, availability, dates, accessibility and arrangements directly with the relevant person or organisation. The app does not process purchases or recruitment payments.
Be cautious about requests for upfront recruitment fees or sensitive documents. Do not treat a listing, an approval badge or a map pin as a guarantee of trustworthiness. Read the disclaimer for the practical limits of directory information.
Privacy, availability and legal rights
The privacy policy and cookie policy explain information handling and choices. The service may be changed, interrupted or unavailable, and offline pages may contain older information. No term excludes liability or a right where South African law does not permit that exclusion.
These terms are intended to be read under applicable South African law. Changes will be published here with an updated date. Material changes should be brought to users’ attention through the service before they take effect where required.
